Why did the Jaredites bring birds and fish with them? It seems to me that birds and fish would be available wherever they settled and in the case of fish if there were none it would be because there was no place they could live. Bees make sense because they are so important to maintaining fruit production and some places might have less desirable species (such as wasps) that could be displaced by the bees. Perhaps the birds and fish were the same – they took their preferred species in order to displace our assignment less desirable species if needed.

It makes sense that a watertight, submersible vessel would shut out all natural light.
