Zacharias

We can ask Zacharias what it is like to serve faithfully for a lifetime while being denied the posterity he hopes for and then to have a son promised but be unable to speak of it for nearly a year.

I don’t know what he thought during that silence but the first thing he spoke was to confirm the words of the angel by declaring that his son wouldn’t be named for his father as their social convention dictated but that he would be called John.
