Matthew

We only know a limited amount about Matthew’s life but we know something of Matthew by analyzing his written testament of the gospel. For all we have heard about how the Jews despised publican’s, Matthew was apparently a very well versed Jew and yet he was a publican. That demonstrates to me that being a civil servant was fully in keeping with the law of Moses even if that was an unpopular profession. One trait of a priesthood man is the ability to see truth beyond cultural prejudices. That allows such a man to operate in ways that surprise this with less grounded understandings.
