Limhi and Helam

I wish I could draw specific traits from Helam and dedicate a full entry to him because what limited information we have indicates clearly that he was a righteous example. He was among the first to believe Alma and the first to be baptized and when the purple fled and founded a city they named it after him even though Alma was their leader (this indicates that Helam was very prominent among them).

More prominent, although not likely more righteous, was Limhi. He choose not to follow his own father, the king, when he gave the command that the men abandon their women and children in the face of a Lamanite army. He then went on to lead the people in relative righteousness amidst very difficult circumstances until they were find and rescued to join the people of Mosiah. At that time he willingly forsook any claims to leadership (although I don’t anyone felt he had any remaining claim since his people had been rescued and brought under the protection of Mosiah).
