Following in the footsteps of his father, Nephi led the church at one of the most challenging periods in the history of the Nephites. It seems that Satan and his wicked followers had built up great momentum and were working with great urgency to derail the faith of the church and destroy it before the coming of the Savior. Nephi spent decades fighting against those efforts and shoring up the faith of the believers through the dissolution of the government until the signs of the death of Christ then he probably helped to gather survivors to Bountiful before the Savior appeared.
