Parenting Adult Children

I’m getting a taste of what is like to have an adult child to raise. Analese is a legal adult who clearly needs parental influence and in many ways we are in the best position to provide that influence. In addition we care for her well-being in ways similar to if she were our child. This prompts us to wonder when we see her showing patterns of unwise behavior whether that is the way she spend her money or the schedule she keeps. The situation is complicated by the fact that we aren’t her parents so we have extra incentive to allow her to exercise her autonomy. I’m thankful for this advanced course in parenting and hope we can provide her the appropriate support for her situation.

I’m grateful for my calling. We had instruction for the Elder’s Quorum instructors today and while only half of us showed up we had a strong spirit there and I got some great ideas. Some I hope Shane will implement and others I plan to try engaging this teaching corps to implement.

I’m thankful to feel the spirit operating in my life.
