Few men with the reputation of Parley P. Pratt could be considered as underestimated by such a reputation but Parley was. We know him as the author of many of our hymns, as a very effective missionary, as an eager convert to the church, and as one of the original apostles of this dispensation. For all that we might mistakenly think we have the whole picture of the man. In addition to all those things, Parley was perhaps the most influential advocate for Mormonism to the wider world through his writings. He threw himself into the latter-day work without holding anything back. And never seems to have wavered in his testimony at any time in his life after his first conversion.
