The laborers are few

The timeline of Matthew suggests that Jesus called his twelve apostles after noting a lack of laborers for the harvest. He had called on his disciples to pray that the Lord of the Harvest would send more laborers.

It’s possible that this wasn’t when He called them as apostles but rather, this was when He called upon them to proselyte.
