Feeding the people

One of the interesting aspects of the feeding of the 5000 was that there was many times more left over after they were fed than there had been when they started.

The people were happy to follow someone who would supply them with all the bread they might need but Jesus knew that what they needed would require more effort to digest than the bread He had already given them.

What Christ taught here about the necessity to eat His flesh and drink His blood probably didn’t make much sense to His apostles until the Last Supper when he instituted the sacrament and told them that the bread He broke and the wine He blessed are His flesh and blood respectively.

The references to Judas here make me really think that he left before Christ instituted the sacrament in that final passover meal.
