Did Judas think that the Sanhedrin were intending something less than Jesus’ death? Perhaps he was counting on the fact that they didn’t legally have the authority to enforce a death sentence. If so he must have been ignorant of the fact that they could and would bring Roman authority into enacting their desires to have someone killed.
I really like the way the book of Matthew concludes. It is peaceful to end with the Lord giving charge to His disciples to spread the gospel message to the world.
