Adam and his posterity were commanded by God to be baptized, to receive the Holy Ghost, and to enter into the order of the Son of God.
To enter into the order of the Son of God is the equivalent today of entering into the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood, which is only received in the house of the Lord.
What is “the fullness of the Melchizedek priesthood”? It is more than being ordained an elder and it applies to women (married or single) as much as to men. I would say it is to enter into the covenants of the Melchizedek priesthood appropriate to our situation (in other words, as a married person there are covenants to obtain that don’t apply when you are single). Aaronic priesthood covenants such as baptism and the sacrament can be obtained outside the temple but Melchizedek priesthood covenants are obtained within the temple.
