We have a concept of the ancient church leadership and the modern church leadership being organized and connected as a cohesive unit. The reality in both ancient and modern times is that while the leadership of both organizations were united in their efforts to bring people to Christ and the salvation He offered, the individual leaders spent the bulk of their time following the individual promotions of the Spirit rather than following some centrally determined plan for how to spread the gospel. It must be very lonely as an apostle of Christ even with a solid appreciation for how amazing your fellow apostles are.
While the leaders of each church were united in promoting Christ over ask else they didn’t arrive at their testimonies from a unified starting point not did they see eye to eye on all points after their had received their testimonies.
