The message of the early saints was that Jesus was Messiah as proven by the fact that he was resurrected and there were many witnesses to his death and resurrection. Sometimes Christians convert the gospel into a list of commandments or a happy philosophy. The real good news is and always will be that the Messiah has come and that Jesus has been resurrected which is evidence that the bands of death are loaded and that Jesus had the power to bring us the salvation promised to the faithful.
