It seems to me that Nephi and his brothers we naive to bring ask their wealth to display before Laban when asking to buy the plates of bread. They should have offered to pay while showing only a modest portion of their wealth and letting Laban know that they could get more of that wasn’t enough to secure the plates.
I wonder if there was some specific lesson that learned through that unsophisticated approach.
