The things written here combined with Adam Konigsberg’s comments related to some earlier words of Nephi leave me thinking that modern Jews have inherited centuries of teachings designed to reject Christ and Christianity such that claims of the Messiah being the Son of God by Nephi are seen as revolutionary when I am fairly confident that such a belief among Jews prior to Christ would have been considered fairly mainstream. It was after they rejected Christ that those who remained Jews after the rise of Christianity began to insist that such an interpretation of the prophets was radical.
