He shares a story about a multi-generation family accepting the gospel because of a Book of Mormon that was given to one brother who never even touched it after accepting it and setting it on a shelf.

I don’t know who he was quoting “the Book of Mormon is the instrument of conversion prepared for our day.”

“Since ‘becoming’ is a lifelong process, our study of the Book of Mormon should be a lifelong pursuit.”

“‘Wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion.’ We want to be at peace, but not at ease.“

Speaking to the youth about what it means to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ. When we enter the kingdom of God (through baptism) we are no longer in the world and we shouldn’t expect to look like, act like, or participate with the rest of the world.

Sisters now make up twice the proportion of the missionary force than they did before the age change. (I’d guess something like 40% instead of 20%)

We have not yet made our actions and attitudes on the Sabbath a sign unto the Lord of our covenant.

(220 stakes in this conference – Draper to Kayesville; Wendover to Rock Springs) Recommendations for this core area of the church: if we are not careful we can shift ourselves away from the source of spiritual nourishment and have our testimonies die even if they were previously vibrant and strong.

How do we ensure that we are feeding from that source? Regularly read scriptures, pray, attend church, go to the temple, care for the poor and needy.

Those who don’t focus on those basic habits can begin to listen to muddied sources that choke off testimony.

Don’t treat people as faithless when they ask tough questions.

We live so close to headquarters that we may become casual in listening to the counsel of the church leaders. (He cites the counsel on missionary farewells and homecomings as an example.)

Be careful not to over-program your children.

Take time to sit together casually and spend unstructured time.
