I have often wondered why, when the people gathered their provisions they included their gold – to me that didn’t seem like a necessity. When I read tonight that they divided what remained of their provisions that they hadn’t existed during the war, including some portion of their gold, I realized that they may have had things that could only be made with their precious metals so that those things weren’t simply luxuries or objects of opulence.
