What did the Lamanites think?

I wonder if, after treading down the Nephites to the tune of killing about a quarter of a million of them in one last battle, the Lamanites believed that they had killed every one of them. Perhaps they did our perhaps they knew a few had survived but that there weren’t enough to ever be even a minor threat to them.
