The eye of faith

Marsha wrote up the various ideas of how to ease Laura’s burden long-term – the things we discussed at the family meeting – and she went over it with Laura and me after work today. That prompted further discussion between Laura and I after she left which eventually figured on the idea of sending Alyssa to live wth Steve and Noreen for this semester to fix her issues. It didn’t take long for me to declare that even if we decided to move Alyssa out it wouldn’t be to live with them and go to Paradigm High School. I told Laura that Rachel von Neiderhausern had offered to let Alyssa stay with them as necessary and that I felt that was a better option of she had to leave the house because it kept her close and we could maintain more direct influence – plus it keeps her social ties and ties with the ward intact. I didn’t go so far as to say that I felt there would be minimal need if any for her to leave at all.

Laura is convinced that we simply can’t help Alyssa. I think that lack of belief is one of the reasons that she can’t help but instead falls into doing the opposite of anything productive when she tries to correct anything with Alyssa. I told her that I was fully confident that not only could we help but that we could do so many times better than Noreen.
