With a conversation that started in 2016, Laura and I finally invited people to a small get-together on the 31st. It started as a celebration of our combined 40-ness but, realizing that neither of us are big-group people, morphed into the first of a series of smaller gathering to enjoy time with God friends. With all the chaos of 2017 we have failed until today to actually invite people (and it was getting late).
At home I began the practice of reporting to the kids regarding how often they are disobedient in a day. Hopefully by reporting it daily they will begin to see patterns and find motivation of some sort to improve. I may have to tie incentives to their performance but this will give us some objective metrics to work with. We also practiced asking for prayer suggestions before launching into group prayers.
