I consider it progress that the boys wanted to stay at church for class and behaved through sacrament meeting to be allowed the privilege. Ezra went home with Laura partway through sharing time but Enoch and Noah stayed until shortly into our class time. When they persisted in being disruptive I took both of them home (they had been warned). I think it made an impression.
In the afternoon we had a goal meeting with Mariah and ended up talking at length about how she needs to become studied with herself and not reliant on strangers complimenting her. She always wants the leads (which is fine) but feels that without the leads (or dance company) she is eating her time (which isn’t healthy).
Later during a goal meeting with Savannah I was finally able to help Laura see how her response to Savannah when Savannah is less than enthusiastic undermines Savannah’s ability to overcome her notice reaction. I also helped Savannah see how she needs to do better at bridling her reactions – better than simply going silent or escaping – in order for us to see the progress that she certainly wishes for in the family. We may have to remind both of them off those insights going forward but it was a breakthrough.
We ended the evening with some good time with the kids in the back yard.
