Finding solutions at work

I have been gratified the last two days at work as I have had the opportunity to actually make a difference in two vexing problems. One is a view/report that Shawn has been wrestling with off and on for over a year. With some insights from me over the last two days he has been able to advance by leaps and bounds, nearly to completion. More impressive is the fact that we have accomplished that while also tackling an emergency issue that nearly derailed the monthly closing for the pipeline.

I’ve been able on that issue to push the various parties to action so that we effectively zeroed in on where the problem lay (QPTM) and, despite feet dragging by accounting, I convinced them not to shoot themselves in the foot simply because the problem was clearly one for the vendor and the workaround was inconvenient. The end result was that I consistently had things in motion before they were requested and we both closed on time and got Quorum Support engaged and supplied with the necessary data on this issue that couldn’t be solved in time for closing. Now I just need to keep the heat on until they find the root cause and fix it.
