Sorrow in the fourth generation

I never considered the significance of the fact that Christ told his disciples not long after he had visited the people that while none of the present generation would be lost, the fourth generation would fall away. They knew long in advance that their marvelous peace would be temporary even if it lasted a comparatively long time.
