Moroni knew that this was his final writing. He has thought he was dinner before, thinking there would be no opportunity despite knowing that there were things worth wiring. After finishing the record of Ether he thought there was nothing left to say but after being preserved he realized that he had his own witness and record to add. This time he knew he was done.
