The first covenant that we make is to take the name of Christ upon us. While the act of baptism formalizes it, those who truly seek to take his name will be accepted even if they were not properly baptized in mortality for they will gratefully accept the proxy baptisms which will be performed for them.
Our most critical covenant is to take His name and the heaviest condemnation is for those who profess His name but refuse to hear Him.
