Failure to thrive

It is a sad day a we are forced to acknowledge that Alyssa failed to get any of the desired benefits of joining the swim team. She didn’t integrate socially and she grew to hate the training and competition so much that she quit actually going to practice weeks ago. At this point we aren’t going to spend the time to take her to the remaining practices or either of the two remaining meets. She isn’t planning to swim next year.

We got confirmation from her coach that she hasn’t been showing up at practice while Alyssa was out evaluating her own unhappiness. When she finally came home after 10PM I talked with her and encouraged her to find solutions to the various problems she had identified (like never eating breakfast). I then have her a blessing. I hope she reaches a turning point and stops sabotaging her own path to happiness.
