After days of thinking we had a plan, things came to a halt today as Becca finally talked to David and he raised some legitimate concerns regarding what they could offer. They have no final answer yet but we can’t assume they will be able to do what we had felt would be the most helpful to us.
We meet tonight with Laura’s family and had a council regarding our situation and what we needed. We arrived anticipating that everybody was brutally familiar with the plan we had proposed but found that want the case. Emily, and to a lesser degree Noreen, wanted to make it clear that taking a child would have to come with no strings attached and an advanced recognition that we might never have that child return to our home.
I think it was important that everyone could openly air their perspectives but it was clear on the way home that they didn’t generally share some of our let understandings about what we are meant to accomplish with this family. The only concrete thing we got out of the meeting was an offer from Andy and Lily to take Ezra and Emma to live with them.
