Battle vs Burning

What is the difference between battle with it’s confusion and noise vs burning? To me the difference is that battle is generally not straightforward. Victory is uncertain and even temporary success is no guarantee of eventual success. By contrast, burning – once the fire is going – is steady and unidirectional so long as there is fuel. A battle can be won that was being lost but a fire cannot un-burn.
