When the law justly demands the life of him who murdered it may be fair but it doesn’t actually rectify the original murder. More so if there are multiple murders to his credit. Here the atonement if Christ does even more than wash away the guilt of the murderer. If he truly repented, the atonement if Christ washes away his sin, and whether he repented it not, the atonement if Christ can make whole all whom he had wronged.
