Trampling the laws

I’ve always noted the similarities in our society, and especially the church today and that recorded in the Book of Mormon. I never before considered how similar we are in our civic deterioration to the Nephites. They trampled the righteous laws that Mosiah had established for their system of judges (with divine guidance) and we are trampling the principles of the constitution that established a republic in favor of a more volatile “pure” democracy (augmented by mobocracy and “social justice”) even though our constitution was similarly divinely inspired.
