Mormon led the Nephite armies through 20 years of way before they were given 10 years of reprieve. During that time they fortified themselves and rejected the invitation to repent. After successfully defending themselves there times in succession they began to boast and Mormon declared that he would lead them no more. At this point he has given then two third of his life and he is only a few years older than I am now.
