Lamoni’s belief

When Ammon declared that he was simply a man Lamoni still believed he was the Great Spirit. This indicates that his understanding of the great Spirit was comparable to the Roman beliefs about their gods – that they were powerful but not necessarily trustworthy – that he might lie when it suited him. On the other hand, having perceived that Ammon could know his thoughts, Lamoni was prepared to believe whatever Ammon told him even before Ammon requested that as his gift.
