One element of the higher law is that it forces you to look beyond simple judgements. You need to honestly consider the break in your item eye rather than blithely condemning the mote in your brothers eye. Likewise you can’t assume that your outward works, no matter how good they appeared, will bring you into the good graces of the Savior because, as had been noted before, His aim is about transforming us into something, not simply having our outward obedience.
