Ether chapter 6 encapsulates the unstable pattern of the Jaredites. Starting with a righteous long, someone (usually a son of the king) rebels and promotes wickedness and a divided kingdom (or takes over the whole kingdom) until someone else restores the kingdom to the rightful king or begins to reign in righteousness. This pattern repeats until it fails to return to a state of righteousness.
