Liberality, industry, and wealth

It occurs to me that the way we distribute money can greatly vary the effectiveness of that distribution. If we amply supply those with the greatest need we receive much more benefit per unit of aid than if we help those with modest needs and much more benefit than if we assist those with superficial or superfluous needs. Likewise if we choose to be industrious – regardless of our circumstances – we will find more than the fiscal blessings of industry (blessings which could be replicated by aid), we will find the emotional/psychological/spiritual blessings of industry which cannot be given to us by others.

A society that values honest industry more than they value economic success will be richer over time than a society that values the flaunting of wealth as opposed to the blessings of labor.
