There were many prophets foretelling the coming of Christ. I wonder why the unbelievers chose the words of Samuel to base their plan of destruction on. My suspicion of that one of two things were factors – the fact that the timeline of his prophecy was so specific and the fact that he was a foreigner. The specific timeline would make it easy to set their deadline. The fact that he was foreign might have made it easier to convince some people to join the movement against those who believed him.
