With the girls leaving for girls camp this morning I started the day and was braced for the possibility of 3 tough days – especially for Laura. Happily that didn’t happen today. Laura had a good day with the kids as they went and played at the park and she held them to expectations for chores and keeping the house tidy. Early in the day Laura and I even coordinated to get Isaac signed up to play tennis this fall. That should keep him happy and busy while giving him some social and physical opportunities.
I even had time after work to begin freshening the seasoning on my dutch oven in preparation for camping this weekend. We did leftovers for dinner and the kids didn’t even complain about it. Then we all went to the park intending to play pickleball. When that didn’t work out (no available courts) we simply played tag. Everyone had a great time and bedtime was smooth. Ezra couldn’t go to sleep so he helped me clean the kitchen while I did the second round of seasoning on the dutch oven.
I’m now heading to bed with a happy wife, a clean kitchen, and no worries. That’s a rare combination.
