Was there something in the situation of Ishmael that made him amenable to leaving Jerusalem with Lehi? He must have been righteous to listen to such an invitation; I wonder if he had done any prophesying himself or even simply defending Lehi when he began to prophesy. Perhaps Lehi sought Ishmael because he knew that people in Jerusalem were turning their backs on Ishmael as well.
