Moroni and Amalickiah

I see the actions and appeal of both Moroni and Amalickiah differently now than I used to. Today we live in a time when large groups of people distrust what their guvernant is doing. That distrust is deep enough that they favor anyone not connected to the current centers of power. This is what drove us to elect Trump who despite his glaring inadequacies knew how to excite a crowd. Not nearly enough people could see clearly to his complete lack of substance and the danger of his divisiveness. I read an opinion today starting that in this climate people will flock to anyone who will boldly lead even if they are leading in dangerous directions. I feel that is what was happening with Amalickiah. The Nephites we fortunate to have and equally charismatic leader in Moroni who could draw excitement comparable to what Amalickiah elicited in his followers. Today I fear that we may have Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders as Amalickiah vs Nehor with no Moroni available who would lead both charismatically and righteously so that discouraged people could make a righteous choice. Our best choices are less charismatic than our worst choices.
