Covidquake 2020

Just as we are acclimating to the soft quarantine/social distancing effort to allow the spread of a global pandemic (coronavirus which causes COVID 19) we woke up to the largest earthquake (5.7) Utah has had in 28 years. And the last one was in St George so it’s been much longer since the Salt Lake valley had anything nearly this large. The last one anywhere near this large in Salt Lake was a 5.0 quake in 1949.

I was awake when the quake hit just after 7AM but it woke up Laura and 4 of the kids – who all thought it felt like someone was shaking their beds (kind of like when I was a kid and I thought Ken shook my bed, only to realize later that it had been an earthquake – I’d guess 3.5 or 4).

2020 is giving the kids lots of memories for later in life – less fun than the total eclipse of 2017.
