The words about believing gentiles being numbered with the House of Israel and unbelieving remnants of Israel being cut off sounds exactly like the pruning of the olive tree in the allegory by Zenos where the natural branches bringing bitter fruit are cut off and the wild branches that were grafted into the tree are left as part of it if they bring forth good fruit.
