Camping prayer

Yesterday we went camping for the first time of the year. Laura, Savannah, and Alyssa joined us until dinner which made it more fun but when it was back to me and the 5 youngest the kids got crazy again and I just wanted to be done. As soon as we started going to bed it began to drizzle. By midnight Emma left her hammock to come to the tent. When she did I saw that the rain had turned to snow. A couple of hours later our tent partially collapsed when Ezra knocked the snow off the tent wall by his head. I fixed it by knocking the snow off the other side of the tent. It was a long night.

By 4am I was praying that we would be able to drive home safely and that the kids would remember it as an adventure rather than a disaster. I got up at 6am and checked the road – which was free of snow. We were ready to drive out by 8am after I took down camp mostly alone (I was not happy with the level of disobedience everyone displayed). Unfortunately we were stuck in the mud. Thankfully the family next to our van was from Alaska and experienced with such situations. The husband drove our van out of the mud with some careful maneuvering and a little push at the end. My prayer was answered even if things weren’t exactly smooth.
