Overflowing encouragement

Look at all the ways that Christ encourages those hearing him:

• He tells them they were spared because they were more righteous than those who were destroyed.
• He invites them to repent and promises to heal them.
• He promises eternal life to those who will come.
• He promises to receive any who come into Him.
• He promises to give power to become the sons of God to all who come into Him.

Any one of those promises should be reason enough to come. The declaration that they were already more righteous than those who were killed should help them lay aside a burden of guilt and encourage them in their efforts to repent.
