As I read this “thy watchmen shall lift up their voice together” and “Jerusalem will be inhabited by my people” I think of the way the world looks at Jerusalem today – as a place of major historical significance and as a city which, if it weren’t for the presently ongoing conflict in the region, would not be of particular world significance at present. Then I imagine what the world might think in the day when this promise is fulfilled, when the Lord makes bare his arm in the eyes of nations and the children of the covenant are gathered together with Jerusalem being renewed as a holy city as in ancient times (not just religiously significant because if it’s history).
