A tidal wave of blessings

Sometimes it feels like nothing goes your way for long stretches of time and then suddenly many things go right at once. Today was one of those days. First thing this morning I got an offer letter from SKM Engineering. Suddenly I can know that my worst case scenario is no longer a continuation of unemployment and financial destitution.

Next at noon I went to the school to reassess Ezra’s IEP plan (special support for his academic and behavioral issues at school). The report was overwhelmingly positive. While he still needs some behavioral support and help with specific reading skills he no longer needs any math help and he has improved greatly in reading and behavior. In fact, they did a connotative assessment and his calculated IQ is markedly above average – long term we have no worries.

In the afternoon I had another interview with Henry Schein. After a problematic code test I hadn’t expected to make it to another interview there. I felt the interview went well there and if they end up making me an offer I would lose the commute to Bountiful that comes with SKM. Thanks to the offer on the table now I fell less pressure if an interview doesn’t look promising.

Finally, in the evening Bishop came over to give us an anonymous gift from people in the ward for Christmas – well over $1000 in total. Bishop says that every year there are people who send him money and ask him to give it to someone in need. That makes it so that we can do things for Christmas that we had previously ruled out. We don’t know how we will use the money but it relieves stress for us.
