Plagues and Passover

I noticed interesting progressions in the plagues. The first few plagues the magicians in Egypt were able to imitate – right up until the plague of lice. The early plagues came upon the Hebrews as well as the Egyptians – up until the plague that killed cattle – then the Hebrews began to be spared. At first they requested of Pharaoh and when he refused a plague came. With the plague of flies they told him before he answered that if he refused there would be a plague of flies – so he was warned in advance about the specifics.

On the final plague, the death of firstborn, the separation between the Hebrews and the Egyptians was no longer inherent. It now friended on the people choosing to follow the word of Moses. If they ignored him they would receive as Egyptians but if they heeded him they would be spared as Hebrews.

Another thing I hadn’t noticed before with the passover feast is that those not if the covenant (through circumcision) were not to partake of the feast. Not only that but they were to gather in groups large enough to consume the full sacrificial animal – and small enough to consume a single animal in one house.
