Russell M. Nelson – Welcome Message
Look for the debris in our life that the Lord would want us to remove.
As I have watched workers dig out old tree roots, plumbing, wiring, and a leaky fountain, I have thought about the need for each of us to remove, with the Savior’s help, the old debris in our lives.
I need to remove anger and frustration with others – especially my children – from my words and actions. Unfortunately, like holly bushes, even if I have once cleared the ground there will be roots continuing to grow in the ground which can shoot up a new bush because my children will continue to do frustrating things and I must be ever vigilant to end the cycle rather than acting out of frustration and accelerating the cycle.
Gary E. Stevenson – Hearts Knit Together
I need to find ways to spend positive individual time regularly with each of my children. This will be very hard but very worthwhile.
“Take a rabbit with an unhealthy lifestyle. Talk to it. Hold it. Give it affection. … The relationship made a difference. … Ultimately,” she concludes, “what affects our health in the most meaningful ways has as much to do with how we treat one another, how we live, and how we think about what it means to be human.”
I’ve been spending more time away from the kids and the mess. That leaves more chaos but I can use that time figuring out how to spend time with one kid and then go out and execute. Repeat and learn until I have a pattern that is working.
Russell M. Nelson – What We Are Learning and Will Never Forget
Soon we may be able to choose to fill that time again with the noise and commotion of the world. Or we can use our time to hear the voice of the Lord whispering His guidance, comfort, and peace. Quiet time is sacred time—time that will facilitate personal revelation and instill peace.
Discipline yourself to have time alone and with your loved ones.
This lines up perfectly with the feelings I had from Elder Stevenson’s talk.
Michael John U. Teh – Our Personal Savior
Years ago, at the invitation of my file leader, I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and marked the verses that referenced the Lord’s Atonement. My leader also invited me to prepare a one-page summary of what I learned.
I would like to try this exercise including writing a summary distilled into a single page.
Russell M. Nelson – Christ is risen; faith in Him will move mountains
Start today to increase your faith.
The Lord does not require perfect faith for us to have access to His perfect power. But He does ask us to believe.
My dear brothers and sisters, my call to you this Easter morning is to start today to increase your faith. Through your faith, Jesus Christ will increase your ability to move the mountains in your life, even though your personal challenges may loom as large as Mount Everest.
- Study
- Choose to believe
- Act in faith
- Partake of ordinances worthily
- Ask Heavenly Father for help
I need to build a habit of regular temple attendence again as that opens up again.
Dallin H. Oaks – Defending Our Divinely Inspired Constitution
Study and understand the principles that the United States Constitution is based on.
I believe the United States Constitution contains at least five divinely inspired principles.
First is the principle that the source of government power is the people. …A second inspired principle is the division of delegated power between the nation and its subsidiary states. …
Another inspired principle is the separation of powers. …
A fourth inspired principle is in the cluster of vital guarantees of individual rights and specific limits on government authority in the Bill of Rights. …
Fifth and finally, I see divine inspiration in the vital purpose of the entire Constitution. We are to be governed by law and not by individuals, and our loyalty is to the Constitution and its principles and processes, not to any office holder.
