The Lord days repeatedly that the stewardships being assigned are the beginning of stewardships for each person and that if they are faithful they will receive a multiplicity of blessings. It sounds to me like having a basic inheritance upon which people can build as much as they are able from that base. This is what basic income is meant to provide—a foundation upon which to build as much or little as you want or are capable of.
To be clear, I am not saying that basic income is comparable to the united order. The united order was much more than just assigning stewardships. I’m just saying that this idea of having a basic grant sufficient with wise management and diligent effort to build a decent life is a common element of both.
