It is interesting to read the amount of the fall in Genesis with fresh eyes. When the Lord calls to them and asks Adam if he has eaten the fruit Adam is not blaming Eve for his choice, he is explaining that he joined her in the choice to keep the other commandment. Also, God curses the serpent first as well as cursing both Adam and Eve. Eve was never intended to be the scapegoat. We may mistake that point because of the expansion to Adam that he was cursed for hearkening to his wife but the reason isn’t because wives should listen to husbands, it is because Adam should have listened to God over any other person.
