I wonder if all the sons listed in Genesis 5 were firstborn sons or if they were simply the line of sons through which we arrived at the pivotal figure of Noah. If they were firstborn sons it makes you wonder why they waited between 60 and 200 years to start their families. I understand that they had longer lives to work with but did they take all those years to get established and capable of supporting a family before starting one?
